Technically, this is my basket.

The general rule is that I can freely chew on anything that belongs to me. As you can see, my rubber chicken and blue Kong ball are in this basket. If my things are in the basket, the basket then is mine. Therefore, the basket and all of its contents, technically are mine.

As a result, none of the following evidence of chewing can be used against me because according to the general rule I can freely chew on anything that belongs to me.

So nothing bad has happened here. This is all my stuff, and I can destroy it if I wish. There’s really nothing to see here.

Technically, as long as the basket contains stuff that belongs to me, the basket belongs to me! Thereforeto, I have done nothing wrong.
